Spirit Bound by Richelle Mead

4.0

This book too me for a ride. I loved that Dimitri sent Rose love letters while he was strigoi. I thought the trial was interesting and really enjoyed reading the fight scenes.... Richelle Mead has a way with writing action scenes.

I thoroughly enjoyed her entire trip to Tarasov and that she got AWAY WITH IT! I kept on waiting for the ball to drop and it never did. I think that's testimony to Roses skill as a guardian and not just a pretty main character.

I was very upset when Dimitri wasn't killed in the fourth or fifth book. I thought the solution was a reasonable one and I enjoyed when Lisa saved Dimitri. What I didn't like was Rose's attempts to talk to Dimitri. I love broken characters and Dimitri is wrecked. I didn't like that she was shoving herself into him and that we had to constantly see her be rejected.

I truthfully wanted Dimitri to die, but now that he's a dhampir again, I'm glad he's at least making himself useful. He's still a skilled fighter and shows that skill when Rose is arrested.

There were times that I grew bored with Roses consistent nature. I did not enjoy her long drawn out speeches at her hearing nor when she was trying to see Dimitri.

I don't like that Rose loves Lisa. I don't like her character and I don't like how we have to look at her like a saint. I think Dimitri's worship of her was a little much and that she definitely didn't deserve it. I don't care about Lisa's drama with Christian. Thankfully there weren't too many scenes with Lisa but there were enough to further my dislike of Lissa.

Also, might I say that I LOVE ADRIAN. I love his character, I love his nickname for Rose and I love that she continually makes herself a blood whore. I feel bad for him because I know he's not end game, but I want it so bad! He's a really good guy and he's always willing to help. He said it best when talking to rose. He has an addictive personality and he WANTS Rose and no matter what horrible crap she does, he will always come back to her. I can't wait to see what happens between them.

Overall the book was a good read and I read it really fast. Richelle's books take a while to gather interest but the endings are always good. I wasn't in love with the last line and how it ended with such an abrupt sentence, but it served its purpose.

I can't wait to read Last Sacrifice.
