Gods of Jade and Shadow
by Silvia Moreno-Garcia
Not always a style of writing I particularly enjoy - telling rather than showing. In particular, this style led to some repetition of description and internal dialogue of characters. However, I really enjoyed this story and its incorporation of Mayan lore and history. Casiopea is a wonderful character and her relationship/interaction with Hun-Kame is fascinating and resulted in a plot that was difficult to predict, which made the book that much more engaging.
