Lessons in Chemistry was a book that I so desperately wanted to love. Unfortunately, that was not the experience I had with it. At times, I felt the book was confusing, especially with the unwarranted point of view of the dog. It made scenes that were supposed to evoke an emotional response, non-emotional. The book seemed rather unorganized and was so desperately trying to be a feminist story. I understand that this book speaks to other women as a feminist story, but to me, it felt like a FEMINIST story, not a feminist STORY. It seemed too fabricated, like a man wrote it to show that he "gets it."

There were enjoyable things about the book and the chemistry knowledge was a nice touch, especially since I understood it.
