I loved this combination of Adam Rubin’s storytelling with Adam Rex’s illustrations, which did remind me of his D&D and MTG work. It had just enough “ancient times” talk to give flavor to the story without adding confusion, I think. I would love to meet Gladys and feed her some worms, but I’d have to be careful what I said!

The only thing that irked us was

it appeared that the Learned Princess only thought her wish and did not speak it, which made the rules of wishes confusing
