Fun fact: I wanted to be an archeologist until the age of 16! I almost went to college for it and I love everything about the theme of this book.

I understand why you love this so much. It is so unique and I have never read anything like this before, so it gets many bonus points for that.

You read this from the point of view of a caveman when he finds a woman millions of years ago who is dressed in normal clothes. He drags her back to his cave and all he will talk about is how he is so glad he finally found a mate, he wants to impress her by showing his cave, he wants to put a baby in her and prove he can provide for her.

It is SO WEIRD and so funny, and his thoughts are all entirely wholesome.

He really falls in love with her even though he keeps repeating he hates the noises she makes, which is basically her trying to speak English and communicate with him.

We know nothing about her, and she is only able to teach him two words. We don't get a pov from her and we have no idea what she is saying because that doesn't get revealed to us. We are inside his head for over 300 pages.

That is when she lost me. I almost went insane. He really does talk and think like a caveman and having no change of pace other than him misunderstanding her for the entire book gave me a headache.

The only problem I had with this was the length. It is such a different read and I think 300 pages was too much for the amount of repetition we got. Personally, I think this would have been perfect as a novella.

The first 180 pages were so enjoyable, unique, romantic, silly, funny and adorable all at the same time, but then we got a repetition of the first 180 pages for the second half until the end and that nearly killed me.

I didn't cry while reading this but we do get an explanation on how she ended up there at the end, so you do get some answers. I would have been pissed if we got nothing lol

Also, he can't say anything but the first syllables for names and after we get introduced to a bunch of other names, it got so confusing I didn't know who was who anymore.

Apparently there is a novella from her POV for certain scenes in this book but honestly, we should have gotten her pov in this, the read would have been less repetitive and less infuriating.

So 3/5 I really had a good time for the first half and it was such an interesting and different read!

Wholesome, silly and hilarious at times. Just wish it had been shorter.

I am still looking for a tarzan vibes book though, this didn't really hit the spot. I think I would rather have had her POV for the entire thing.
