Dark Constellations by Pola Oloixarac

4.0

3.5 stars. My least favorite of the three Oloixarac novels translated into English thus far, perhaps because it is the most pointedly esoteric, with a lot of the narrative wedging itself into a sort of high-enlightenment Victorian-era energy of colonial science, and jamming it against the new "frontier" (using the heaviest of scare quotes) of start-up culture. It works, but it doesn't quite have the explosive, combative charms of her other novels.
