I didn't realize how much of the book would deal with the start of the pandemic, so those parts gave me flashbacks to COVID times. I thought it interesting how closely it mimicked real life: it started in one location then spread on planes. The actual illness reminded me more of the infection in The Last Of Us: infection leads to death within days. I'm glad the actual pandemic was not like that, and also that civilization did not fall entirely.
