Hexagonal Phase by Eoin Colfer, Douglas Adams

3.0

Ok so I know I read this as an actual book many years ago but I honestly have zero memory of it so clearly it didn't leave much of an impression.
I feel that Eoin Colfer is pretty brave attempting this work given the Guide's cult status. He kinda, almost, sorta gets it right...but not quite. I just felt there was just something missing. Might just be me? But at the same time I like that he gave our much abused by the universe protagonist a bit of peace at the end and I am a sucker for a happy ending.
I always enjoy a BBC full-cast production, and in spite of the utter chaos of the Heart of Gold's infinite improbability drive it is relatively easy to follow the plot.
