I already absolutely love this series but this installment makes my love grow even more.

To start I have to say I really enjoyed it how this took place not in the current time and day but a few decades ago. It made things just that little bit different to make the book have a vibe not like the others.

Diego, oh precious friend. I care about them so much already. My heart was won with them using he/they pronouns and especially in a way that I'm not used to. In the first few pages he says he uses they for most, he for lovers. I'm not used to splitting up pronouns by use like that but I really think it's neat and might want to start doing that myself.
Outside of that they are wonderful character to follow with great conflicts inside to follow and emotions that were great and strong. It was so easy to follow them along with what they were doing and hope the best for them. I don't think I connected with another character this easily before.

Maddox is the mystery in this book and I loved how things were slowly unraveled around him. He was written with the right amount of mystery at the moments where that was needed and things opened up when that fit perfectly into the story. Outside of that I think he's a fun character and his dynamic with Diego is amazing. They have very heavy dom/sub vibes from the start and I absolutely ate that up. A big bad boy being the sub adds even more to that. I loved how this dynamic between them became a thing carrying them through the story and added so much more to everything what they were doing.

To continue on that the smutty scenes were really great and gosh I enjoyed them so so much. They were hot and spicy and had all the heavy emotions I love in my books. I knew Bryn is good at writing them but I keep being surprised by how great they are. I loved as well how the emphasis on safe words was there in the book and that added to a lot of healthy kink practices.

All together this is a masterpiece of a story and I highly recommend people reading it.

I received an eARC and this is my honest review.
