Wild Swans: Three Daughters of China
by Jung Chang
I would give her 10 stars if I could. this book details a harrowing journey of a family and how people persevered through traumatic times. It’s very much focused on the narratives of the three women, giving a voice to the demographic who usually remains voiceless. I admire the strength and perseverance of these women who lived through probably one of the darkest moments in Chinese history, where even art and literature is banned. Jung Chang is self introspective and learns to be critical throughout the book. She got me curious about my own family’s history! Overall a great, great read
