High-Stakes Bachelor by Cindy Dees

5.0

The blurb made me impulse buy this in a second-hand book sale. But the second thing that struck me was the author's life story, which will make a damn great thriller in itself! Something that I also mentioned in the review of the first book that I read of hers, The Soldier's Secret Daughter.

And just like that, [a:Cindy Dees|151713|Cindy Dees|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1401466637p2/151713.jpg] has become my new favourite romantic suspense author!

Twenty-five-year-old Anabelle Izzolo is waiting for her turn for the audition of a stuntwoman for the new Jackson Prescott movie. And that is when instead of the stuntman, its Jackson himself whom she will be auditioning with! A 5'2 heroine against a 6'4 hero, been a while since I read a romance with that much of a height gap.

She has a not quite unfounded fear of people trying to kill her, from an incident that happened two years ago. While Ana has a painful past, Jackson faced betrayal so deep that he wanted to stay away from 'showbiz women'.

I loved this book from the very first page, the opening scene itself hooked me in. And what followed was the wonderful and humorous chemistry between the pair. And there's an obvious threat to Ana right from the very beginning, it is only to be seen how serious that threat is.

Gran is such a delight! Minerva is Jackson and his three brothers and twin sister's grandmother, the one responsible for bringing them all up. And Ana loves books, so she's a darling. And the guy blushes!

This is Book Two of The Prescott Bachelors Series. There are only three books in the series. And none of Jackson's siblings' names has been mentioned anywhere in this book. I'm going to read the other two books as well, hopefully soon.

I'm so grateful that I got this on an impulse. It is such a wholesome story, a wonderful romantic suspense filled with hilarity. The ending is abrupt, I mean, I wanted a more detailed one. I always want a detailed ending. And the stunts that both Jackson and Ana pulled towards the end took my breath away. Phew!

Very few can write romantic suspense as good as Cindy Dees!
