The Heart of Betrayal
by Mary E. Pearson
CAN WE JUST TAKE A SECOND TO BREATHE AFTER THAT ENDING. Holy Jesus talk about insaaaane. Okay, okay, so honestly when I started this book I didn't expect to love it. The first book was okay, I liked it for what it was but it was missing something for me so I didn't expect the sequel to be any more than just okay. I WAS WRONG. This sequel was a million times better than the first book and I found myself completely immersed. The plot developed into something that you just couldn't turn away from. I was no longer reading just to read. With this book I learned to love all of the characters that I felt no connection to previously...they just felt a lot more complex and real this time around but the highlight to me was def Lia. I love strong female characters and I loved how she always stayed true to herself and her beliefs even when things got tough. She did what she had to do. The series overall just got a lot more serious and the further you read the more your heart started beating like crazy out of nervousness because you just didn't know how things were going to unfold. There were a few twists I did see coming like the Komizar thing but i liked the way it was done. Towards the end everything got turned upside down so I really have no idea how things are gonna turn out for anyone and I just need the sequel RTFN because I NEED TO KNOW. there is so much potential for the sequel I just wish to be as pleasantly surprised with it a I was with this one.
