Stoner by John Williams
4.0
Amazing book, made me weep. Love how it completely immersed me in Stoner’s world and life. I felt like I was living and sensing through him. There are qualities I can definitely appreciate about our protagonist, but his biggest failure was not caring enough about Grace. In his stoicism he also neglected his daughter. So yes, I guess it has its merit, but as a “Grace” myself… I think I’ll be more active in shaping and controlling my life, even if it can be a feeble and endless pursuit at times. This is the type of book that I’m sure will show me new lessons with each reread.
P.S: Thinking I should look into absurdism, feel like I might align more with that philosophy.
