To everyone who has been told you were too much… So what? Go find less I guess. Or like… Be a cooler person who can handle more shit.
I absolutely LOVED this book. It was such a great ending to the series. Fortis and Alexia were such a beautiful example of not feeling like you’re enough but finding someone who treasures your entire existence.
“Where are we going?” “Somewhere beautiful, virago. You said you had no kindness nor beauty in your life.”
Alexia was not born but created by the ‘Originals’. Those who created the underwater safe haven for humans after the weather made land uninhabitable. She is the guard to one of the originals and comes I to contact with Fortis, a depth strider who can see the future. Together, they uncover what really happened in the beginning and end the war between humans and the People of the Water.
I feel like the more the series progressed the better the writing got. I loved reading about Alexia’s life in Tau and seeing what she endured. Seeing what actually happened for humans to need live underwater was honestly kind of scary, it really shows what happens when people think of themselves as invincible. The People of the Water were 100% justified in wanting to take their revenge. I wish the last fight showed more but I did like that it got set up in a way that another storyline can be written.
