Lilac Girls by Martha Hall Kelly

I'm in the minority with my rating here! In fairness, I think I did myself a disservice by listening to this instead of reading it. The voices of the narrators distracted from the gravity of the story. Caroline's reading came across as shallow, while Kasia came across as unsympathetic for most of the novel (which is CRAZY considering her story).

I also wish that we had gotten a bit more of a glimpse into Herta's post-war life. We find her in a family practice but had she repented for her actions? We had invested so much time in her pre-war story, I found it to be incomplete to leave out her post-war story.

Side bar: I find it interesting and odd that the author chose to use Caroline and Herta's real names for the novel, but changed the names of the sisters who inspired the characters of Kasia and Zuzanna. Why not change all of the names or keep all of the names?
