The Museum of Heartbreak by Meg Leder

4.0

I chose this book because of its completely adorable cover and yippee! hooray!, the story proved to be as delightful as the cover. Each chapter begins with an image of an artifact (like "Gray Sweatshirt") central to that chapter's plot, and the author provides catalog information as if these are actual museum artifacts. So cute! The story revolves around Penelope and her best friends Audrey and Ephriam. At this stage in their lives, the three have begun to grow apart, and the protagonist Penelope feels alone and confused by their behavior. Audrey has a new bestie-- mean girl Cherisse-- who has history with Penelope's crush, Keats. To make matters more confusing, Pen has her first kiss with Eph who immediately becomes weird and broody. While some of the crises seem too easily resolved, the museum concept is unique and sweet, and I loved the whole dang thing. More, please!
