My father grew up in foster care in the 1970’s, on a strawberry farm as free labor. I’d love to share this book with him as a mirror to his own experiences. Heart-breaking nearly page after page. Strong and necessary critique of how capitalism and the pharmaceutical industry worked to demolish Appalachia.
