never got through a book more slowly. i thought by reading the sequel, i’d like the first book more -i was wrong. every time it tried to be emotional it fell flat, the writing made me feel nothing for the characters. i feel like it thinks it’s really complex and deep but it’s actually shallow and the dialogue is awkward and unnatural. i don’t know why i dislike this so much when it’s so loved but just didn’t enjoy it.
