“This will last until the day roses on my grave stop sharing roots with the roses on yours,”

BLOODY HELL I LOVED THIS. I did not expect to love it this much, but I’m head over heels, utterly whipped. WHIPPED. So let’s talk about the themes, very dark and extremely intriguing, super suspenseful. The mystery surrounding the story constantly kept me on my toes, especially when our male MC had questionable habits. The build up towards the revealing of what actually happened has to be my favourite, it was spooky and interesting and I loved every second of it. Based off this I can also assure you that the plot was phenomenal. I also really enjoyed the writing style here, it fit the mood of the book.

Corvina. Mystical, shy, beautiful, violet-eyed, lipstick and candle loving Corvina. I loved Corvina’s Character. She reads tarot, believes in the universe, uses crystals. I love her. For more reasons than these too, she’s kind and easy-going, she’s also self-sufficient, which makes it great that she didn’t rely on some man for her sanity. In more ways than one, I find myself in her. In her very own, shy way, Corvina was a badass.

Honorary mention of Celeste. The woman is phenomenal. The love and dedication of a mother can really be seen here. Despite her dazed, state Celeste managed to nurture, educate, love, and protect Corvina, and did a great job at it too. In their own way, Celeste might’ve not been mentally present much, but the love she had for her daughter surpassed all obstacles. (Here’s where I’d like to say that the schizophrenic rep as well as how it possibly affects children of schizophrenic parents was good. ) I believe that Corvina was otherworldly and she had magic running through the blood in her veins.

Vad. From the moment I heard of him, I kind of knew this man would take morally grey and mysterious to the next level. There are still some unanswered questions I have but that just adds to the appeal of the book and his character. Although Corvina was self-sufficient and fine on her own, Vad came along and made things a lot more easy and joyful for her. He was there for her throughout it all, and never thought she was anything other than magically beautiful. Vad aside from his supportive, possessive, nurturing, loving, and sexy nature intrigued me too. Often I wanted to link the mysteries to him but somehow I just knew he couldn’t. He’s complex and I loved that about him.

Overall, there are so many questions I haven’t gotten answers to (not plotholes). It genuinely adds to the appeal of Gothikana as a whole. Dark, mysterious, and sexy. I loved Vad and Corvina’s relationship. I loved how the storyline developed, and I loved basically everything. I really would’ve loved if there was more diversity in the characters. Nevertheless, it was a spooky and sinful read.
