Caden, a pro baseball player, has a no relationships rule. Like baseball, three strikes and you’re out. He and his friends never know who they can really trust so they don’t get close enough to find out. It’s baseball season and Caden is playing well. He gets up to bat and…it’s gone. As he rounds the bases he looks up and realizes something is wrong. Oh no, his ball hit someone. After the game, he goes to the hospital to visit the person. He first thinks it’s a guy, Murphy, but is shocked to see it is in fact a woman. She’s beautiful. She has no idea who he is, which he finds refreshing. The more she talks, the worse he feels. He keeps blaming himself.
Murphy is a model and had just signed her first big contract. Now her cheek bone is broken and she needs surgery. Each day Caden comes to visit and a friendship is started. At first, she thinks he pities her but learns it’s just Caden, he’s a great guy. He does so many things to help her, including finding her a new job after losing her contract. He is determined to teach her baseball and she can’t deny she likes spending time with him.
What starts as a friendship grows, and both Caden and Murphy realize they have feelings for the other. Both scared to move to that level, but decide to try it. I can’t tell you everything that happens and it’s not all roses. He has crazy fans, and she has a crazy ex, and so on. Really looking forward to his friends stories, Brady and Sawyer. This had all the feels. Fun banter and chemistry but shed a tear or two also. Great read.
