All I Want by Jill Shalvis

5.0

Every time I pick up a Jill Shalvis book, I am just sucked into the world she is created like Alice and Wonderland. I go down the rabbit hole. Sometimes I think I even need the Rabbit telling me I'm late.

Zoe's favorite saying is "I got this", even when she's trying to fix a leaking sink that she just makes worse, a brick that falls out of the fireplace when she slams the door, or even the bath tub that doesn't drain because a loofa is in it. She is very independent and doesn't like anyone doing anything for her. She is set up on a blind date by a friend, with a dentist. Her sister, Darcy, tells her to be spontaneous and decides she likes the idea of being bold. When she opens the door and is immediately attracted to "the dentist", who's not really the dentist but her brother's friend Parker, she kisses him.

The tension between them is broken by her dog Oreo. He is a rescue and doesn't like men, but immediately takes to Parker. While he is town on "vacation" he is trailing a bad guy after being run over and his partner killed. He lies to her in the beginning about his job, eventually coming clean. However, he does continue to fib about fixing different things that's wrong with the house, while she's at work or asleep. I love how he makes it seem like she fixes everything, and tells her she did a good job.

Then Parker has to go and save some kittens. How can a woman not fall for a guy that does that? He takes them back to Zoe's and introduces them to Oreo. The kittens make him nervous and he proceeds to pee on them. I cracked up. But he happily adopts them into the family. I always enjoy seeing Peanut in the Animal Magnetism books he is such a nut and makes me laugh every time by his antics. Silly bird.

I loved watching Parker interact with is younger sister. It just makes your heart melt and fall in love with him a little more. Both of these characters grew over the course of the book, they lived together before they were even a couple. Which with their chemistry/magnetism it was difficult for them to stay apart. Between Oreo rolling in bear poo, the kittens Bonnie and Clyde being rambunctious, and crazy Peanut they just help to support the story and make it that much better. All I Want is a must read, it has suspense, a love story, humor, and a world that you wish you could be a part of.
