The Girl with a Louding Voice was our book club selection this month. Dare composed an incredibly sad book that still somehow managed to convey hope. The setting for this book is present day Nigeria yet it could take place in far too many places around the globe where people are treated unfairly based on sex, religion, ethnicity, race, sexual preference, age, income, or almost anything. The book depicts awful human treatment of other humans and how so many simply seek opportunities for education as a tool to better themselves and their families. This book has more meaning as we see efforts to effectively destroy public education under the guise of “indoctrination” and instead channeling public funds to support actual indoctrination to worldview that opposes human equality or freedom of thought. 4 powerful stars.
