i love the main character of this book: morgan is smart, snarky, funny, a little bit nuts, and wants to write a great american novel. for now, though, she'll settle for fortune cookie fortunes. morgan lives in a tiny town in nebraska, where her father & stepmom drive her insane. her boyfriend, derek, is kind of doofy and has a small penis. her next door neighbor, tessa, has a crush on her that she doesn't know how to handle. her friends are annoying. morgan's only ties to sanity are her grandmother and her coworker rob of the glorious ass. but when the family secret gets aired, morgan loses her bearings.

i love all of the fortunes that morgan writes and leaves around for other people. i really enjoyed her unique voice telling her story- there was something about cronn-mills' writing that made this stand out from other stories of teen angst with similar plots. until the chapter where morgan attends prom. the writing sort of fell apart there, but managed to pick itself up in time for the ending. the prom chapter is where the character of rob started really bothering me, too. i don't understand how he was any different than derek. still, i'm looking forward to reading more books by this author.
