Defeated Demons by Jessica Girke

4.0

"For the girls, Nate was sunshine." - Lynn

I really loved this book, it deals a lot with mental health and it was done in a realistic way. Sometimes you can't do it alone, sometimes you need help and Nate and Lynn have people around them that understand them and that can help. This book focuses on Nate and Lynn and their 3 year old twin daughter. This book has a good balance between being parents and still making time for each other and for their own mental health. There are also chapters that focus on teaching their children about Nate his PTSD and his mental health. Those girls are really caring for other people and very aware of struggles others might have.

"I still can’t believe we have such wonderful kids.” - Nate

“We did good with them. ” - Lynn

I'm really happy that they created a safe space for themselves and their family. Jessica Girke did a great job with this Serie (I've only read this book, but I'm sure the first two books in Serie are great as well, I will read those books too) and building the characters and their story, this book felt hopeful, even in hard times with the right people and help there will be better day, Nate and Lynn got their happy ending, their family and they have each other! And what I really loved was that the time in chapters continued, every chapter started where the last one ended.

I received an ARC copy of this book from the author, thank you so much for the opportunity, I definitely will read more book from Jessica Girke in the future!
