The Will of the Many by James Islington

5.0

I gave this book five stars despite some small problems with the world because I enjoyed the vibes, and feel a bit of a book hangover for the last few days since finishing jt. Can’t wait for book #2!

The biggest problem I had with this story was mostly with the magic system. Conceptually the hierarchy is a very unique system, but “will” was never explained very well as to what it actually IS. What are its limits, besides it being a finite substance? What can it do or not do? After reading this 600+ page book where this magic system is core to the story, I left with many questions about it.

The ending was also confusing. I had to go to Reddit to have people explain what exactly happened in the last couple chapters.

Besides these few issues, I really enjoyed the book and the themes/concepts.
