One thing I really did not like was that the author would always mention breasts whenever someone was naked. Like. I know the character is naked. you do not need to also include the line “her pert, adolescent breasts” BUT maybe the point is to be creepy!?? idk considering the POV is the mother of the teen.

Anyway, i thought the author did a great job describing some of the horror and gore aspects especially the parts with insects or rodents. It was so visceral at times that I was like (Gag).

I think the book slowed down quite a bit toward the end/last 60% or so and then picked back up a little bit for the final confrontation.

I RARELY read horror/mystery so I wanted to try and see how this book was since the pretense really pulled me in. I liked how the author didn’t glamorize or make the vampire sexy like the vampire is a total creep (but is still charismatic and such, but he’s written to be unlikeable to the reader)

Anyway, solid 3 stars.
