I got this book at a department book exchange and all my fellow English teachers were raving about it. It took me two years, but I read it! And it was good!
But, honestly, it would be great to teach but a lot of it went over my head because I wasn’t looking for something that would make me think. And this book does this. Even at 89 pages, it packs a punch. And the ending will destroy you.
I also think I missed some significances and detailed because I probably don’t know enough about 1980s rural Ireland.
Overall, this is a quick read that has a lot of value and is incredibly well written. If you’re looking for a short novel that might destroy you, this is it.
