Sontag: Her Life and Work by Benjamin Moser

challenging informative reflective slow-paced

5.0

Couldn't have more respect for Moser's handing of the many, many written sources he pored over for this book. His research was exhaustive - really above reproach. Excerpts from Sontag's journals populate every page of the book and I didn't pick up on any unreasonable extrapolations or biases. So refreshing not to be distracted from the facts while still being offered a complex, human portrait of the subject! Moser's eloquence borders on poetic at times (not unlike Sontag's herself) but don't be misled: this book is dense.
