What I Liked:
• the way Kyle immediately smiled and spoke to Taylor when Taylor found him in the duck blind and rescued him.
• the banter and joking between Taylor and Denise was cute
• I know this should have been so predictable but I genuinely didn’t think about it and was shocked when we find out that the fireman Taylor couldn’t save was his best friend Mitch.
• when Taylor finally talks about his dad’s death trying to save him from the attic in all that detail, I finally started feeling emotions lol I liked the way he spoke about it, not that it actually happened
What I Disliked:
• the first 10% of the book is everything talked about on the back of the book: Kyle’s rescue by Taylor. The other 90% of the book is just the day to day routine of Denise and Taylor and Kyle with Taylor slowly pulling away and Denise just accepting it and doing nothing about it but acting so HURT by Taylor when he can’t commit to her. Obviously Taylor wasn’t being fully honest when he said no every time Denise asked him if he was ok, but if Denise still felt like something was wrong she should have done something about it before she got really hurt. She was just a whiny little anxious girl half the time always asking “Did I do something wrong?”
• Denise was such a BITCH when Taylor was at her house crying and wanting to talk about Mitch and she was like “ohhh it’s late, can we do it another time?” After she literally told him she’d be there for him. Then she had the nerve to hesitate to say yes before they actually had that convo about Mitch and Taylor’s dad??
• Taylor needs THERAPY. NOT A CHILD OF HIS OWN AFTER ADOPTING KYLE AND AFTER ONLY ONE YEAR OF MARRIAGE!!!!
