Pyramids
by Terry Pratchett
I admit I originally picked up this book because I'm a bit fascinated with Ancient Egypt, and this book seemed at least a little bit related. I will say that I have never read a Discworld novel before now, and I haven't really read comic fantasy ever before either, so this book was kind of a new experience for me. But I did enjoy it!
The writing has a very unique voice to it, and that took a little bit to get used to. I also feel that the book's storyline sort of moves along slowly for while before picking up pace.
However, after I got used to the unique voice of the writing, I found myself really enjoying the humor, which is quite clever and often smartly composed, and I got sucked in by the story. The message and outcome, as well as the, are also things I liked. I love the science fiction-y vibe this book has, despite it technically being fantasy.
Overall it was an enjoyable read, though slow-going at first. As a side note, I love Pratchett's world building and clever characters. I might pick up another of his novels simply for that! Haha!
