Keepsake by Sarina Bowen

5.0

Keepsake is the third book in Sarina Bowen's True North series. In this book we are taken back to Shipley farms for Zach and Lark's story. This story has a lot of trigger warnings, please check those if you need them.

We have met Zach in the previous two books. Zach is basically part of the Shipley family. He has been working there for two years after escaping his polygamist cult family four years ago. He still has a lot he hasn't experienced, but is learning to try new things in his life. Lark is almost the opposite of Zach. She comes from a life of privilege and has travelled around the world. She is May Shipley's best friend and arrives at the farm after her work in Guatemala with a non-profit went terribly wrong. She is at the farm to recover from the experience.

Zach is seriously one of the nicest, kindest guys ever. He is so caring and what starts out as a friendship, develops into something more. The only problem is, Lark is still dealing with the demons of her experience and feels so broken and unable to be loved. Eventually Lark needs to face what happened to her, and she needs to take care of herself, to be a better person for everyone. This is such a beautiful story about love and patience.

One of my favourite parts of the book was watching these two experience life, heal and grow. This was a solid, enjoyable read, which I expect from Sarina Bowen.
