Summary: Sadie lived in an inn with a douchebag of a man named Dick. (appropriate name there I guess). When she turns 20 she finds out that she’s one of the ABOs, and not just any ABO, she’s an alpha. The first female alpha ever.
Sadie must learn how to fight and live along side the other three massive alphas that don’t think she belongs there and she strives to prove them wrong.
Things aren’t always what they seem as they all soon find out.
Pros:
- It was kind of interesting world building. The fact that there are at least three different realms was neat.
- The shifted form of the alphas was also neat, especially since none of them were wolves. That was nice.
Cons:
- They say the phrase “alpha-barked” or “barked” 22 times in this book. I’m still not entirely sure what ‘alpha-barking’ is.
- The word “beta” is used a whopping 224 times, and it was usually followed up with some kind of physical descriptor, usually the word “strength”.
- My biggest issue with the world building. They have machine guns (which I’m not entirely sure the author is away of how guns work, it’s kind of hard to hide a massive machine gun that glows blue beneath a cloak), televisions, cell phones (how do they get the phones from the human realm?) but they don’t have cars? Make it make sense.
- The amount of times it’s stated how small Sadie is, is ridiculous, or how she looks so special with her white hair and red eyes.
- Here’s a particular nitpick. On page 8 it was stated that she slipped in her own blood after being beaten by a belt. What part of the belt was being used? Exactly how hard was Dick hitting her for it to leave scars and a puddle of blood?
- Cobra is a dumb name for someone who’s entire powerset is based on snakes. Be a little orginal.
- When Sadie is dropped off at the fortress and the other alphas are about to lay into her and the kid Zed, just shows up announcing that she’s the next alpha is awfully convenient. For one, how did he know it was her specifically? Two, why wasn’t that done beforehand? Why didn’t the dude who tested her STAY LONG ENOUGH TO TELL THEM???
- Cobra not being able to regain control from his beast without being sexually aroused is just….fucking weird.
- Also, I don’t usually complain about typos, but Acsher is spelled Asher three separate times. You should at least make sure that the main character’s names are spelled correctly.
- So, when they’re at the part whos name I can’t be bothered to remember or know how to pronounce, they get mad about the dress she’s wearing and yell at her that she’s not allowed to dress like that again. That’s just…no. It’s an ick for me. You don’t get to treat her like shit and then act all fucking possessive like that. Just. No.
- Why the fuck is Cobra calling Sadie Kitten? Sure, she’s a saber-tooth tiger which I guess makes sense, but come up with a better, less generic nickname please.
- SPICY SCENE TALK ALERT. I don’t think the author has ever done anal. You don’t just spit on your fingers (not even going to talk about how spit really isn’t great lube, sure it can work sometimes, but not for this) and then stick them straight in with almost no work-up to it at all. Shit’s gonna tear.
- And then she was “stumbling on freshly fucked legs”. First off, that sounds like your legs got fucked, secondly, you were fingered and eaten out, not fucked.

Overall Thoughts:
This wasn’t a good read. I didn’t enjoy it, I’m not even entirely sure why I finished it. I have absolutely no inclination to read anymore books by this author, ever. The writing was horrible, the dialogue was childish, the characters weren’t relateable, and the plot was so predictable it could have been action movie. If you enjoyed it, then all the power to you, I did not, in the least.
