I LOVED this book and I’m loving this series. I’ve given this book 5 stars because it has totally hooked me. Does that mean I wasn’t frustrated at times? No! But I often think that people rate books lower for things that make the books interesting, and the characters realistic. For example, was I almost irreparably over Diem because
she was choosing Henri over Luther even though it was clear that L was the correct choice? Yes! But at the same time, I knew that this was a part of Diem’s development as a character, and it was obvious from Cole’s writing that Luther and Diem would end up together. But just to be clear- Henri absolutely sucks and I hate him (but again- that’s just a sign of a good author, not a bad book!)
I loved that although I had my suspicions about some things, they didn’t come true right away, and I was kept guessing. I wondered
if there was more to Aemonn than I thought- there was more to Luther, after all, so maybe Aemonn also had more to offer. But nope, those who knew him were correct, and he was just using Diem and being very charismatic while doing so.
Well, I’m off to read book 3 now, immediately!!
