The '70s (Dekada '70, English Edition) by Lualhati Bautista
4.5
*read in the original Filipino*
Should be required reading especially for today's youth, mainly for its usage of the political climate of that time as backdrop and driving force of the story, but also for the broader themes of womanhood, benevolent misogyny, family dynamics, and how our society can influence different people, in that we can all experience the same privileges but view those things in various ways.
As a tiny thought, I also wonder how much the rise of the internet and technology, and the increasing number of comforts people have access to, affects the mobilization efforts for revolutionary action. I may expound on this if I find the words for it but idk it's just a thought.
