I really enjoyed this romantic fantasy about an all powerful archmage humbled by the care of an all too human woman. These characters were beautifully drawn, both with painful pasts that shaped them in different ways, and the way they grew and changed each other was a delight to see. The world building was also interesting with layers of dangerous realms each ruled by different gods and beings, including a fresh take on the Seelie and Unseelie Fae courts that I enjoyed a lot. I must confess, my favorite part of this book was when they were trapped in a demon dimension together--I'm a sucker for survival stories, and I liked the way they had to work together and take turns helping each other. It created a very strong basis for their relationship once they were back in the "normal" world and helped keep the romance believable. The story ends on a satisfying note, while leaving plenty of room for Declan and Evie to continue to grow in their relationship.
