Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros

5.0

Screaming, crying, giggling, angry... it made me feel a lot of emotions.
When an author introduces a loveable character and just kills it in the first chapter I knew this book would emotionally wreck me.

The book initially was fast-paced but after 60% it does get slow.

Firstly, the things I liked. My favourite character would be Violet (the main character). I have never related to a MC in a fantasy book and this would be the first time.
Small, timid, people considering her weak, yet smart, cunning and never backing down.
She fell first and she acknowledged her feelings and was vocal about them and fought for them rather than just denying and avoiding them. And the chronic illness representation.

The best part is you know how during a major plot twist in a fantasy book when the MC confront the other person usually she/he would react with such wild emotions that they would never listen to the other person and just would make a stupid decision because of misunderstanding (I used to get so angry with MC during that time) BUT SHE FUCKING LISTENED PROPERLY even after giving her reaction.
So yeah she was amazing.
Also, I loved Xaden and Violet, omg I enjoyed their scenes so much.
Rebecca Yarros has an impeccable writing style and I am officially her fan. She evoked so many emotions from me through her writing.

But the thing I didn't like (now this is my personal opinion regarding the story)
I was waiting for Violet's power to manifest and wanted it to be something unique. But her power was a letdown for me because not only it wasn't unique (even though it was great for story purposes) but I have read other books where the main character has the same power.

But it was an easy 5-star for me when she made me cry with that character's death towards the end. It was so painful. When you wrote a dragon without its rider is dead, I thought that was because a rider can then be vulnerable in battle without its dragon and more prone to death but I didn't think that you meant it literally. You could have killed anyone but why that person
