A novella. Like most novellas, there’s time for plot or characterization, not both. The Ilona Andrews team relies heavily here on the characters they’ve built in other books and goes all in (inn)(sorry) on lots of things happening. So if you know the characters, it’s a great story, but if you don’t, it would probably seem a bit thin. I enjoyed it.
