This book was a fun little roller coaster for me. As a fan of the show and movies of The Librarian(s) I was immediately drawn to this book for a similar concept, and then found out there was steampunk elements - nice!

I liked the dynamic of Irene and Kai navigating the world and also each other in the mentor/mentee relationship they were forced into. Wished there was more time to develop their relationships to each other and others in the world but it is a series so that might happen later and help it not feel as rushed as if it was all done in this book.

Enjoyed it enough to want to read more!

please Kai practically BEGGING Irene to sleep with him in that hotel room as making me cackle and her just being like 'no thank you?' but also intrigued like, i never want them to sleep together but what a way to start a partnership
