Hmm ... I'm at 33% and I'm just struggling to stay interested enough to continue. It's not bad, maybe I'm in a mood? This isn't Fae, but it feels a little Fae (Fae isn't my Fae-vorite ... I'm so punny). This has a little of everything. Alternate worlds (or reflections), shifters, trolls, griffins, ogres, mermen, leviathans, people with powers.

Tons of metaphors and similes. That's not bad/good, just something I notice. Some were great with the imagery "His voice is an echo in a canyon" and "The waves chop and slice, manipulating the boat like a sautéed vegetable". There were SOUNDS written in italics ... again, a nice touch to bring it to life. Fwit is the sound of an arrow whizzing by. Drip, drip, drip and Slap, slap, slap and clang and squeak and snap.

There were LOTS of New York references, and they were pretty funny ... a couple examples " A stranger just smiled at me. Definitely not New York" and "For the love of New York pizza!"

"What the bleep" ... made me laugh.

Despite all these good things ... I found myself getting a little irritated at the MC. Just not making good choices at all. A little TOO much going on with all the different creatures and the Void and the Verity, too much, and yet it still seemed to be dragging and I was losing interest.

Again - It may be a mood. I may come back to this ... we'll see. Borrowed for free while on Kindle Unlimited (text only).
