The Fall Before Flight by L.M. Halloran
2.0
medium-paced

I absolutely love a therapist/patient romance. This one though? It missed the mark for me. I am pretty sure I went to DNF it 4 times throughout the duration of me reading this book. I got so annoyed with the FMC and the therapist gave me the creeps more times than not. Part 2 of the book was so much better than part one and Leo is less creepy.

This story follows Amelia as she gets put into a place called Oasis to deal with her trauma. There she meets Dr. Leo Chastain and he is helping her get better. There is a little twist that was thrown in there that made me want to keep reading. I really did like the people she met while at Oasis. I found Leo to be creepy in a way and I knew what his story was from the beginning.  Amelia struggles so hard and tries not to like people but fails. Seeing her start bonding with other patients at Oasis was fun to see even though she didn’t want to like a single one of them. Amelia is rough around the edges, that’s all there is to it. Once she got out of Oasis she was getting her life back on track. I knew she was going to run into Leo at some point, this is a romance after all. I really loved the moment they ran into each other and she got to meet his son. That kid was so much fun and really added something special to this book. We find out towards the end that Leo has known who Amelia was for years and it's because he is her brother’s friend. I called it super early on. So you see Leo and Amelia get past the secrets and drama and end up married with a baby on the way.

Do I feel like I wasted my time finishing this book? Kind of. Had I not finished it I probably would have been wondering how it was going to end. I try and go with my gut on if I will enjoy a book or not and my gut failed me a little bit with this one. Oh well.
