This felt like an upgraded version of Raahosh’s book. I wasn’t sure how I’d feel at first with the whole kidnapping angle, but since Harlow wasn’t really fighting it, I found myself just going along too.

The story centers on Rukh (a total wild man/Tarzan type) who takes Harlow. She’s confused about what’s happening, but instead of trying to go back, she feels guilty about possibly killing the others she left behind at the ship and chooses to stay with him on his journey.

What I loved is that Rukh is completely innocent when it comes to sex. He understands pleasure, but the concept of sex itself is totally new to him. As Harlow introduces him to words and ideas, he slowly pieces things together, even their "resonance". I didn’t expect to like this trope, but it was actually really endearing watching her teach him about relationships step by step.

Rukh quickly became a sympathetic character, too. I figured out who he was as soon as he mentioned his father, and it made me care about him even more.

One side note: Liz. She’s hilarious and sharp when she’s bantering, but her inner monologue makes her unbearable. It reminded me why I liked her in the first book and why she drove me crazy in the second. It’s all about whose perspective she’s in.

This book also takes the series forward in a fun way by finally diving into the whole “kit” aspect. It moves the larger plot along and adds some fresh stakes, which I really liked.

The Honeymoon section was a sweet bonus. It flashes back to their time on the beach, showing how they built their home together. Simple but heartwarming.
