The Faceless Ones / Derek Landy

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

~ I’m sophisticated, charming, suave and debonair, Professor. But I have never claimed to be civilised… ~

Well, one thing is for certain. This series NEVER gets dull. Carrying on from the events of the last book, The Faceless Ones starts strong and never lets up. It has also gotten progressively darker. And I can only imagine more darkness to come.

There is the usual banter between Skulduggery and Valkyrie, but this time out it all seems more subdued. Valkyrie is getting older, they are more accustomed to each other, the fondness grows. There are snippets though between Valkyrie and her Reflection though that make you think of the life she chose, and the one she is missing out on.

The story is this is ace. The action never lets up right until the end. The reveals were shocking. The aftermath? I gasped. Clutched. Dying to see where this goes.

China Sorrows has my heart. Valkyrie’s da has it too. And Beryl, I think she’s my favourite side character, she’s just so awful!!!

Skulduggery is still a top lad and a gentleman throughout. He’s just class.

Tanith, Fletcher, Valkyrie. Let’s see what happens in the next outing.
