Faith: Taking Flight by Julie Murphy
3.0
I think I expected more of a contemporary plot with a slight speculative feel. I.e Faith trying to live a normal life after she’s randomly granted powers. So she’s balancing school, and her secret identity as she navigates her powers.
Instead there were so many different plot points that I felt like shouldn’t have been in the novel. The Grove cast/ TV Show, the study drugs, the love triangle with Johnny and Dakota, her grandmas dementia, the secret organization that gave her powers, Ches going to prison, etc etc.
It felt like a lot for one book. I think I would have preferred something more relaxed or something that was FULL ON speculative that focused more on crime fighting, the study drugs, and people with powers.
