Freedom: My Book of Firsts
by Jaycee Dugard
This book was a challenge to finish. It was a mixture of the writing and the content that gave me the struggle. I almost feel bad rating this book so low, especially considering what Jaycee Dugard had to endure to finally get to the place where she can write a book about her "firsts" since obtaining freedom. She writes extensively about her mundane firsts (granted things we may take for granted) but it's just too much of the same. She writes little to nothing about her daughters, and while I respect her right to privacy on that matter, her perspective and insight on them and how they are adapting to assimilation would've been nice. The later half of the book also has Jaycee recounting her numerous international travels which harken back to the repeated mundaneness. I don't recommend this book.
