https://dl.bookfunnel.com/1ia6876hu1 This is the prequel called Simple Pleasures which I believe will help set the scene for the story between Saverio and Lucia, and give this book some context.
This is Book 2 from The Terlizzis Family and can be read as a standalone. I have read a previous book from Cora from another series, however, as opposed to that one, I finished this book. It is a dark romance with birth control tampering, and wanting so badly to impregnate Lucia so please, if this is a trope that you are not comfortable reading, this book is not for you.
I do read alot of dark romance, mafia themed, because I genuinely love them. This was good. Saverio and Lucia are from families where there is alot of hate and mistrust. Lucia and Saverio have quite the age gap, with Saverio meeting Lucia for the first time when she is merely a teenager, mourning the loss of her baby brother. From then he is seemingly captivated and after Lucia's older brother Dante, breaks off his arranged betrothal to Saverio's sister Lucretia, Saverio believes it is only fair to take Lucia for himself. There was a contract with Senior Terlizzi for Saverio to claim Lucia, but with much opposition.
Lucia and Saverio have a very tumultuous relationship, where alot of energy is spent on hating each other, and from Saverio trying to control the narrative. However, those emotions come from places of mistrust, not wanting a life of violence, and revenge. When the dynamic changes, however, the time comes for both to acknowledge their true feelings and explore the possibility of life with the one thing they both so desperately wanted. It is good, and I think the next book in the series will be interesting given what is uncovered about Lucretia.
