This is exactly what I want from an epic fantasy. It has it all...
- Great atmosphere & tone ✔️
- Intricate world building ✔️
- Interesting & unique cast of characters ✔️
- Amazing writing ✔️
- Political intrigue ✔️
- Mythical creatures ✔️
It really has everything and I can see why this is such a beloved series by so many. I went in not really knowing what to expect and also a little apprehensive as I know this is quite a complex series, so I wasn't sure it would be something for me. It absolutely is!
The only reason it doesn't get the full 5 stars for me is because it does feel abit like a set up book so there are alot of threads left open. We spend ALOT of time getting to know all the characters and places and plot points (of whoch there are many..) so I spent a good 3rd of the book very confused and very much just trusting the process, but it does all come together in the end, and its such a beautiful feeling when it does!
Amazing start to what I now know is going to be a fantastic series. I can't wait to move on to the next book!!
