I was really excited to pick up this book, but it ended up being a little boring. I didn’t overly hate it, but it truly read like a fan fiction that got changed into a different setting/new characters so it could be published. The relationship between Elsie and jack felt rushed and lacked heart, desire, yearning, longing, and really any other feeling that would make you want to root for them or see their chemistry. Also
the sex scenes?? We get it!! Elsie is soooooooo tiny and jack is sooooo big, I hate that that was really his only trait - big guy who likes science and is secretly a feminist who sticks up for women and only wrote a bad article that almost destroyed a discipline because he was mad about his dead mom
. I honestly don’t know if I would have finished the book if it wasn’t for the fact that I brought it with me on vacation and I didn’t have much else to read. Overall the story was underwhelming and empty. Probably won’t read anything else by this author again.
