Daughters of Smoke and Fire by Ava Homa

3.5

This book is a first novel and my sense is that it depicts experiences not too far from the author's personal experience. As fiction, the pacing, plot and action felt chaotic. I wonder whether I would have preferred the memoir version of this book, because the chaos feels based in the authors real and traumatic experiences of being Kurdish in Iran.
