lauraloves 's review for:
Dishonestly Yours
by Krista Ritchie, Becca Ritchie
this was sort of a mess? but it was fun. the POVs/voices are a little weird, in that you’re getting the narrative almost entirely from thoughts and memories instead of through dialogue or the unfolding of events - particularly when it comes to the development of the main relationship, which was sort of a bummer because I love love watching those things progress more as a witness than as a surrogate journal? but it wasn’t the worst. the con thing is fun enough but stays a little high stakes, pretty dramatic and dark, which keeps this from going too goofy or frothy (a la butcher & blackbird) but it never takes itself toooo too seriously. I finished it and immediately started the next one, so clearly, I didn’t hate it.
