A Vindication of the Rights of Woman by Mary Wollstonecraft

4.0

This was tough going for me. A lot of words I didn't know, so it was very useful to read the Kindle version and just be able to tap on words to see their definitions. There were also lots of very long complicated sentences with many subordinate clauses, to the point where I sometimes had to reread sentences to work out what the subjects and objects were etc. There were also commas in places that seemed very unnatural to me, which caused me a bit of a mental stumble every time. Maybe it's an evolution of the way we use punctuation and this was normal for the time?Basicallymount of concentration was required.

In terms of content this book was fascinating, both from a historical standpoint and because of how many incredibly prescient ideas there are that are still relevant to us today. I particularly enjoyed the section on education.
